Puff! Skylar and Jenna appeared in the control station that Skylar found the location of all the kids. Skylar was confused why they were back there, before he could say anything Jenna was over at the computer.
“Why are we here?” asked Skylar, walking over to her.
“We need to find out where Hilary and Jared are,” Jenna replied without looking up.
“We know where they are, their in same area where I was being held.”
“Yes, but we don’t know how many guards there are, where exactly in that block they are, they could be on opposite sides.”
“Okay, but I could easily just blow them away and make it real easy.”
“And waste energy that you will need to fight Dr. Franks. Remember we don’t know what abilities he has, before you think it will be easy.”
“I don’t remember telling you that he has the gene.”
“You didn’t have to, I just read it.”
“What?”
“Yeah it just came up, while I was talking to you. Funny thing I wasn’t even looking for it.”
“That’s impossible, it took me forever to find information when I looking for it. Not me, it comes up really quick, it is as if the computer knows what I am thinking.”
Skylar couldn’t believe it, he knew what Jenna’s secondary ability was, she was a he believed the name is technopath. He had been wondering what her other ability was, since he had developed two and all she had shown was her teleporting.
“I think the reason you are finding things quickly is because the computer does know what you are thinking, ” said Skylar, with a grin.
“That is crazy, how can that be?”
“We you said you weren’t looking up anything on Dr. Franks and it just popped up, it’s because your secondary ability is to communicate with the technology.”
“I don’t believe you.”
“I’ll prove it.”
“How?”
“Stop typing and just put you hand on the monitor, and think of what you are searching for.”
“That is a waste of time.”
“Just humor me will you,” said Skylar grabbing Jenna’s hand and placing it on the monitor.
“Fine,” said Jenna, rolling her eyes. “I’m thinking… I’m thinking.”
“You can look at the monitor as you think.”
Jenna turned looked at the screen to see the information she wanted on the screen. “Holy Shit!”
“I didn’t know shit was holy.”
“Shut up. That is impossible,” said Jenna looking at Skylar shocked.
Skylar just looking at her with his palms up and head bent down and looking out of the top of his eyes, His way of saying duh!
“Shut up.”
“I didn’t say anything.”
“You were thinking it.”
“Fair enough.”
“Anyway, it says that Hilary and Jared are in the same cell, Block C-7 and there is only two guards. Why only two? You had like fifty.”
“I am also a human destruction machine.”
“Why do you think they have them locked there and not with the rest of the kids?”
Skylar did not say anything, he could only think of two reasons why they would do that, while the first he thought was unlikely but possible. The second was clearly the reason if not a second. “Just in case I got out and found where everyone was being held, when I discovered they were not there I would stay around to try to find them, and the last place I would look would be in the area they were holding me.”
“You got a point.”
“I know.”
“Shut up.”
“Shall we go?”
“Sure, but where do you think Dr. Franks is, we need to take care of him as well. How are we going to find him?”
“I am sure he will find us.”
“Ok, let’s go get your girl and best friend.”
Before Skylar could say anything, Jenna grabbed his hand. Puff! In a split second, they were back in the section, not that long ago Skylar was trying to escape from. He was still getting use to teleporting, from going from reality into what seemed like pitch black for a second and then back to reality. Once back on solid ground, Skylar quickly noticed they were outside his cell, which made since that is where Jenna knew in this area. He looked at the door and saw letter B-2.
“Hilary and Jared are in C-7,” said Jenna.
“I know,” said Skylar annoyed with information that was already said. “My question is how many blocks are there in each letter, you didn’t happen to see that did you.”
“No. I didn’t think about that. Wait here.”
“But!”
Puff! Jenna was gone, while Skylar liked that Jenna could get them across distances easily, but he was going to have to get use to her being able jump to somewhere as something pops into her head, which he could see being a problem later in life for her. Puff! She was back, standing before him but holding a tablet in her hand.
“That is for?”
“I thought since I can communicate with computers I might as well grab my tablet I left back at the dojo.”
“You went back to the dojo?”
“Yeah, no one was there.”
“Okay, I thought you were going to the control station.”
“I did, only to make sure there was wireless and there is.”
“But you don’t have access to the network.”
“Not true,” said Jenna, holding up her table to show a map of the section. Two dots appeared on the far left of the screen and another dot appeared a block over and five doors down. “The two dots is us, and that other dot is where block C-7 is.”
“How did you manage to get access?”
“I hacked in, I told my computer to find a way in and I got pass all the passwords by finding them. Shall we go?”
“You going to teleport us there?”
“No, I have never been there.”
“I really think you are under estimating your ability, but whatever. You can work on it after we get out of here. Let’s go.”
The two turned head down the hall the same way Skylar head when he was escaping. When they reached the intersection Jenna headed right so Skylar followed after her, she had the map after all. They continued the hall until they came to another intersection, this time it was only go straight or take the right. Jenna stopped and Skylar came up behind her. They both peered around the corner to see if they could see the guards, they couldn’t the lights in the hall were only half on making it darker and hard to see, and they were pass the point they could. They turned around the corner and faced each other.
“What should we do, if they see us coming before we see them then they might call for backup,” said Jenna.
“See if there is a camera in this hallway.”
“Good idea.”
Jenna pulled up her tablet and a new window opened in a moment the a screen with links to camera feeds showed, the link C-7 turned red and a video player popped up it showed inside the room, Jared was lying on the bed while Hilary was at the door trying to figure out a way to get it to open. Skylar knew how much she hated being stuck in a confined space without a door open. The feed disappeared but before Skylar could say anything C-7-2 turned red and another feed popped up. This feed showed outside the door, two guards with two weapons in hand standing outside the door.
“Well that answers our question,” said Skylar.
“What should we do?” asked Jenna dropping hands to her sides.
“I say walk right down see what they do, if they go to stop us or call for back up you know what to do.”
“What’s that?”
“You know.”
Skylar turned and started down the hall Jenna had to catch up, Skylar was half way to the room when she finally caught up. The closer they got to the room the more he could feel his pulse beating a little faster, not just because he will see Hilary again, but because he knew this was all going to come to an end soon. They passed by C-6 and he could see one of the guards step out to see who was coming, Skylar did not stop and he could tell Jenna wasn’t either.
“Hey,” shouted the guard. “What are you doing down here?”
Skylar and Jenna continued on, the closer they got they could see he was reaching for his radio. He knew if they did not do something quickly, they would have the whole force on them. He kept watching, but was not close enough to do anything, he needed to be closer to use his telekinesis; he began to turn to look at Jenna. Puff! He stopped turned his head forward, just as the guard brought the radio to his mouth. Thud! Jenna hit him in the back of the head with the handle of her sword. The guard still at the door began to raise his weapon, but she threw her elbow right into his face, Skylar could hear the cartilage break. The guard dropped his weapon, and Jenna followed it up with a knee to the gut. He dropped to the floor, and with one last hit, she kicked him in the back of the head to knock him out.
“I thought I was going to have to tell you what to do,” said Skylar, reaching her.
“I had no clue what you wanted until he went for his radio,” said Jenna picking up the guards keycard. She placed it on the scan and the door opened. Skylar pushed open the door, to see Hilary and Jared standing against the far wall. Their expression changed quickly from a look of fear to relief. Skylar couldn’t hold back, he ran into the room right for Hilary was only a few feet before her when something unexpected happened, he hit something. The floodgates of pain surge through his body as his broken nose was squished against some invisible field. Skylar fell back to the floor, only to look up in surprise, he was not sure what happened but then he saw it something unbelievable, some blood was slowly began to roll down towards the floor revealing an field. While his nose throbbed and blood once again was gushing from it, he could not believe that his first thought was right for while she was there. Somehow like Jenna and himself Hilary had figured out how to active her gene and her first ability.
