I know what you’re thinking no I haven’t become immortal, though how cool would that be if I did… actually that would be kind of scary never dying… Anyway back to the reason why I am posting. Gone immortal is the announcement of another project… I know another, how many projects do I have going on, well I would say if I counted I would think I have too many so I am not going to count though if you count those that are actually active then the answer seven.
Anyway, I can’t say I am a fan of Highlander I have only seen a few episodes of the show, though always loved the idea of immortals doing war to be the “One”. However the movies suck, first one is not too bad though sequels ruined it. TV show never really gives us the one. The direct movie called the source that I am told is horrible, kind of tells us what the one is, though I am under the impression that their are immortals still alive besides Duncan. Which brings me to my idea, I wanted to re-imagine the whole idea, but not make it focused around not the Game but the immortals themselves. Also, things thought out in advance that way things don’t get stupid or just don’t fit.
I am kind of shooting myself in the leg with this project since I have mention several times I am outliner and will not write until I outline all the books. It is hard to outline all the books when you have no set number. I am working this being a single book that could easily become a series though each book would be its own story, and maybe someday down the line I would do something with the world to make a sent # of books to wrap it all up. However I am not going to worry about that until that time comes.
You might be asking yourself a why create a whole universe for one book, it is mainly because when I work on my longer projects like Facade Crusade or Marks of Eilira, I have so much work to do before I can write that at times I feel like I should not be world building but actually writing. I am not going to become a better writer by world building all the time, only by writing. So this book will be my book I write when I feel like that, this way I am can grow as a writer while still working on a other projects.
I have already started working out the details on the story, but I am going to leave some things to discovered as I write, but laws of the universe and what the prize is when there is only one left, what they have. Also there will never be a reference of highlander in the whole series. More to come as things come up, though do not expect an update on this project as with the other since I have no time frame for it.
